Real conversations with native speakers, matched to what you actually care about. No lessons. No teachers. No AI.
What The Talk is a place to practise speaking a language with a native speaker, by video, for 30 minutes at a time. It is not a course and not a tutoring service. There is no curriculum, no homework and no AI conversation partner — you talk to a real person who speaks the language natively.
Most people who have studied a language for years can read it and follow it, and still freeze when they have to speak. Speaking is the one skill you cannot practise alone, and it is the one most courses give you least of. Thirty minutes of real conversation does something no amount of study does: it makes you produce the language in real time, with someone waiting for your answer.
You are matched with speakers by shared interests rather than by level alone. Talking about something you genuinely care about is what keeps you coming back, and it means the vocabulary you pick up is vocabulary you will actually use.
English, French, German and Spanish, with native speakers available in each. Other languages open as speakers join.
If you speak one of these languages natively, you can get paid to have these conversations. You set your own hours, you need no teaching qualification, and you talk about things you find interesting.
What The Talk connects language learners with native speakers for 30-minute video conversations. It is conversation practice, not lessons: there is no curriculum, no homework and no AI. You are matched with people based on shared interests, so you talk about things you would want to talk about anyway.

A conversation. The people you talk to are native speakers, not teachers, and they are not there to correct your grammar or set exercises. The point is to spend 30 minutes actually using the language with a person who is interested in what you are saying.

You tell us the language you are learning and the things you are interested in. You then browse the native speakers available, read their profiles, and choose who you would like to talk to and when. You pick the person; nothing is assigned to you.
Yes. If you are a native speaker of a language someone wants to practise, you can sign up as a speaker, set the hours that suit you, and be booked for 30-minute conversations. No teaching qualification is required, because you are not teaching.
