Tell us what you are into, pick someone you would enjoy talking to, choose a time, and have a 30-minute conversation.
You sign up, choose the language you are learning, and pick the subjects you actually like talking about. This is what you are matched on, so it is worth being honest rather than impressive.
You browse the speakers available in your language, read their profiles and see what they are interested in. You pick the person you would enjoy talking to.
You see the times that speaker has opened, shown in your own timezone, and request one. They confirm it, and a video room is created for the two of you automatically.
At the agreed time you both join from your browser. Nothing to install, no separate video account. You talk for 30 minutes. Afterwards you each say how it went.
What The Talk connects language learners with native speakers for 30-minute video conversations. It is conversation practice, not lessons: there is no curriculum, no homework and no AI. You are matched with people based on shared interests, so you talk about things you would want to talk about anyway.
English, French, German and Spanish. Other languages open as native speakers join.
A conversation. The people you talk to are native speakers, not teachers, and they are not there to correct your grammar or set exercises. The point is to spend 30 minutes actually using the language with a person who is interested in what you are saying.
30 minutes, by video, in your browser. There is nothing to download and you do not need an account with any video provider.

You tell us the language you are learning and the things you are interested in. You then browse the native speakers available, read their profiles, and choose who you would like to talk to and when. You pick the person; nothing is assigned to you.
Yes. If you are a native speaker of a language someone wants to practise, you can sign up as a speaker, set the hours that suit you, and be booked for 30-minute conversations. No teaching qualification is required, because you are not teaching.
